Executive Board Meeting Minutes, March 24, 2010
DerFotoKlub of Fredericksburg's Executive Board & members met at Dona Drew's house on Wed, March 24, 2010 at 7pm. The meeting was called to order by president Dona Drew at 7:15pm. Members present were Dona Drew, Rebecca Flynt, Cynthia Lively, Cynthia Huryat, Dyana Walker, & Jim Fox. Delicious refreshments & cookies were also present.
Subjects discussed were as follows:
- Larry Miller, chair for the judging committee, proposed an amendment to Article XI - Annual dinner and year-end competition of the DFK By-laws, where members can submit up to 4 images to a total of two categories, Color & B/W. Copies of the amendment were passed out, approved by the members present, seconded & passed with noted spelling corrections.
- A discussion followed if there was a need for a historian & a parliamentarian (?) - not atm.
- - Also we may want to amend Article X and have all our club procedures be by the Roberts Rules of Order; a proposal can be passed by "common consent" or a simple majority instead of 2/3 of those present.
- It was decided current yearly dues will remain the same.
- The president can appoint other chair committees &/or executive committees.
- Dona Drew then brought up the subject of our "Meeting Critiques":
- Larry Miller brought a helpful handout on critique guidelines.
- It was agreed that critique is #1 for education.
- And that the moderator should make sure everyone has a chance to speak, one at a time.
- Members need to shoot for the subject rather then find an older image that fits.
- It was also decided that the members will present only one image for critique with the second image remaining at the back of the room with a comment sheet next to it for each member to leave their own personal observations on. We shall see how this goes & if it will remain in effect for the future.
Annual Dinner & Yearly Show:
Committees will need to be appointed to find a place/person to host the annual dinner & show. Possibly Baron's Creek? St Joseph's Hall? Check with Der Kousler. Cost of renting display panels? Would be best to run the show during Art Past Dark. It was decided 10% back to the club on sales to help cover renting a place to show
