Old Business- Contest submissions were discussed. Larry Miller felt we need to make an effort so that everyone understands what will be accepted and to have it in writing. Dona Drew suggested we put it to a vote with the options being: 1) anything goes, 2) matted and framed, 3) matted, 4) on firm back, 5) submitted digitally. Jim Fox recommended a committee be set up. It was agreed and the following members will decide: Larry Miller, Cynthia Hurayt, Jim Fox, and Rebecca Flynt (who will "chair"). Dona Drew announced discontinuing our participation in the Gulf States Camera Club which was voted on by the members at the last business meeting. Larry Miller agreed and then mentioned their convention in New Orleans coming up. Bob Grinslade will be going and will let us know how it was. New Business- Bob Grinslade read the following letter from the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance to the club: "It is with great pleasure that we are able to assist you in purchasing a projector and a screen to direct your efforts toward photographic education. Your efforts to bring quality educational classes, seminars, and demonstrations to the artisans of Gillepsie County and the Hill Country are greatly appreciated by the members of the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance. Enclosed please find a check in the amount of $1,000.00. We will provide 15 day passes for the club members to attend Oktoberfest with the knowledge that you in return will give Oktoberfest some of your favorite photos. As Director of Gifts and Grants, our only request is that you credit PCAA/OKTOBERFEST for sponsorship or cosponsorship on all announcements, advertisements, printed programs, and any types of promotion concerning your attendance." Discussion then followed about purchasing a projector. Larry Miller said the Austin Photo Club had approx. 150 members.. they purchased an $1800 projector and there were complaints about the color.. There is talk of possible upgrading and they might be interested in reselling theirs. Zach Pooser mentioned how important calibrating the projector was, plus images can vary depending on the lighting in the room. He has a $1000 projector and suggested everyone bring in a couple of digital images to see how they look. More discussion followed. It was then decided a "projector" committee be organized consisting of the following members- Rebecca Flynt, Bob Grinslade, Zach Pooser & Jim Fox. Dona Drew asked Cynthia Lively to write a thank you note to the PCAA. Karen Pooser announced a friend of theirs, David, was promoting the Art Gibbs Program, which fosters art in the schools.. March 9-10 is Art Education Day at the Austin capitol and photographers will be needed to cover the day..
