Field Trips
What: This event has no title.
Where: Bastrop & Buescher State park (Black & Green Photography)
When: RESCHEDULED to Saturday and Sunday February 25-26, 2012
Details:
- While 70% of Bastrop has been opened to the public, some parts of the park road are still closed. They expect them to be open by February. The rescheduled date will stand, even if the CCC cabins have not re-opened, as there are many places to stay if you wish to take part in both days of shooting. There are also many parts of Bastrop itself that are interesting to visit and shoot. I will continue to send updates as the date draws nearer.
- State Park admission usually $4 pp/day
- Go for one day or both.
- Bastrop is almost completely burned, but the cabins are not harmed. Buescher Lost Pines were unharmed in the terrible wildfire this month.

What: Hill Country Cemetery (and maybe wildflower) Tour
Where: Gillespie/Llano County
When: April 4, 2012
Details: Meet at the Fredericksburg Post Office at 8 A.M. Cemetery crawl to St. John's, Baby Head, Oxford, Eckert and other places stumbled upon. Will finish up at St. Mary's in Fredericksburg if time allows. Should there be wildflowers along the way, stops will be made. Lunch afterward in Fredericksburg.

What: Birds, birds, birds!
When: Thursday, April 12, 2012
Where: S. Llano State Park, Junction, Texas
Details: Meet at Fbrg. Post office at 7am. From there the group will travel to the park in Junction, to arrive at 8am opening time. The park has 5 bird blinds near feeders that you can photograph from (blinds are an easy 100ft walk from parking areas). Also a short drive down to the river will get you into the protected turkey roost area, where you can capture images of the wild turkeys ( from 10am to 3pm only). At this time of year, many birds begin their journey north, providing a chance of seeing something outside the norm.
Bring:
- $3 admission fee or state park pass
- water
- a little extra bird seed
- zoom lens and tripod
- patience and stillness

What: 3rd Annual Circle Shoot-Your chance at a free model, complete with consent form!
When: Saturday, May 12, 2012
Where: Downtown Johnson City, Texas
Details: Meet at 7:30am at the NE corner of Fbrg. Walmart to carpool. Meet at 8am in front of the Blanco County Courthouse in Johnson City at 8am. From there you can crawl around Johnson City looking for your favorite backdrop for your subject. (Next time you drive through there, scope it out in advance!) ****THIS IS RSVP ONLY**** BY THE END OF TUESDAY, MAY 8, 2011!! On Wed., May 9, I will let you know who your subject is, and whose subject you are. There will be a program at a club meeting to show your best images. If you have seen our last 2 programs on this particular field trip, you do NOT want to miss this!

What: 3rd Annual Scavenger Hunt at the Gillespie County Fair & Carnival
When: Saturday, August 27, 2012.
Where: Gillespie County Fairgrounds, Fredericksburg
Details: Meet at 7pm at the entrance to the fairgrounds. I will be handing out a list of scavenger hunt ideas from 6:50pm until 7:10pm. Get your list of ideas and happy shooting! Program and prizes at upcoming club meeting.

What: Enchanted Rock: the little brother
When: Saturday, October 13, 2012
Where: Enchanted Rock SNA
Details: Meet at Fbrg. Post office at 7:30am. The focus of this field trip will be on the lesser known and explored of the 2 big rocks. It will be a medium-difficulty walk with some scrambling on rocks. If this isn't for you, there is also a loop trail that travels the base of the 2 rocks. That is a fairly easy walk and provides some good photo ops of the rock and the pond behind it. And of course, plenty of close ups of rocks, cactus, lizards, etc...
Bring:
- Good walking shoes
- Water
- $6 admission fee or state park pass
